Brunch in Atlanta | The Shed at Glenwood
I love meeting other bloggers. I don't do it as often as I'd like to, but whenever I do, I am reminded of what it is I love about it. I think I have a gift of attracting amazing women and Candice is one of them. I first came into contact with her through her work with BINACT. Or was it our mutual friend Jason? I don't remember, but I do know it's been a year or two now since we first started commenting back in forth, or tweeting each other, or sliding into one another's DMs. What I love about her is that it's never been surface ass conversations. We dig deep, we unwind, we reveal, we share, we connect.
I was so nervous that something would come up again and derail our plans, but I was also determined to make her brief weekend in Atlanta work so that we could meet in person. I arrived at The Shed at Glenwood before she did and I think that was the most silence I had to endure. From the moment she entered and we hugged, we talked. And it was great. It was like our table near the windows was immersed in an embrace of its own, brought to life and made bigger by our energies.
We talked about our blogs, our writing projects outside of our blogs (she is Music & Content Director for Quirktastic too), ex baes, potential baes, and current baes - it was beautiful. I kept thinking to myself, wow, why hasn't this happened sooner?
The food was incredible too, but I was the most indulgent with their mimosas - I did THE absolute most. Hands down, some of the best (and most reasonably priced) mimosas I have ever had! I wouldn't have known what to do with myself, if I had ordered them bottomless. I did have three though.
I had the oysters as a starter and followed that with the Good Morning Starshine breakfast of two sunnyside up eggs, bacon, a biscuit, and roasted potatoes. She had one of their Hangover Cures, the Shrimp and Grits, which consisted of Adobo shrimp, chorizo, pico de gallo, and pimento grits.
A couple of hours passed like nothing. She had a prior engagement afterwards, but I loved our time together. I like when the conversation flows as readily and as easily as the drinks. Hopefully, next time you're in the A, we can do it again - ayyye!
